| The Colorado
Department of Transportation (CDOT) has an ongoing problem
with litter control along certain high-volume highways
in Colorado. CDOT also has a growing concern for the
continued safety of any persons performing services along
the Colorado Highway Rights-of-Way. Consequently, CDOT
has been reluctant to allow any group, club or association
to remove litter from High Traffic Volume Areas. CDOT
is aware that several sister States, as a feature of
their
own Adopt-A-Highway Programs, have entered into community-spirited
ventures allowing professional prime contractors to remove
litter in exchange for an installed community service
recognition sign displaying a corporate logo along State
highways. Such ventures generate sufficient revenue from
the civic minded corporations for the prime contractor
to fund the removal of the litter either directly, by
use of its own employees, or indirectly, by use of a
subcontractor. CDOT sees considerable merit in such community-spirited
ventures, and has elected to pursue such a professional
program. Best of all, this program cost the traveling
public nothing. No State funds are expended to generate
these great litter removal services. This program is
fully funded by the civic-minded corporations.
CDOT has opted to package litter-control services
for an identified set of high-profile highway segments,
totaling approximately 383 miles of highway.
We invite your corporation to participate in this
community service program! Help us CLEAN COLORADO!
