in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by providing an
independent appraisal function guided by professional audit standards.
Vision Statement
To provide, as an independent member of the Department's
team, the best possible professional audit services
responsive to the needs of the Colorado Transportation
Commission and the management of the Colorado Department
of Transportation.
About the Division
The office has "Division" status and reports directly to the Colorado Transportation
Commission through its Audit Review Committee. The Division, as currently configured, consists
of an Internal Audit Branch and an External Audit Branch. The Division conducts performance,
financial, and information systems audits of the Department. It also performs internal investigations
and provides consulting services for management and the Transportation Commission. As required
by state and federal laws and regulations, the Division audits financial compliance of contacts
between the Department and private firms. Commission and Executive Management concerns are
also addressed. The division staff is currently comprised of eleven personnel with accounting, auditing,
legal, information technology, management, and administration backgrounds.
