DESCRIPTION: Annual event features lots of great food and fun,
with Santa Claus on hand to greet the children. Don't forget R5
Durango's annual Project Merry Christmas, in which the Region
"adopts" families, buying toys, clothes and providing them
with Christmas Dinner, and other nonperishable items. See your
office manager for details on how to participate.

Work Zone Safety Week

DESCRIPTION: Nationwide event honors those persons who have been
injured or who have lost their lives in work zone accidents, and seeks
to raise public awareness of the need to drive responsibly and safely in
our nation's workzones.

Remembrance Day
DATE: April 8, 2008
LOCATION: CDOT Headquarters, Regions, and Maintenance Sections
DESCRIPTION: Annual event held during National Work Zone Safety
Week to honor all employees who have lost their lives in the line of
duty in the 90-year history of CDOH and CDOT. Events will begin at
9 a.m. and conclude at or before 10 a.m. Check with your location
work area for more information about this upcoming event.

Annual Retirement & Recognition Luncheon
DATE: April 15, 2008
LOCATION: Greeley Country Club, 4500 10th St., Greeley, CO
DESCRIPTION: This annual sold-out event recognizes retirees from the
past year in Region 4, plus those who have achieved longtime service
award milestones. Committee members are Julie Berenger, Rhonda
Gorham, Veronica Nicholson, and Vicki Sladek. More information and
a flyer will be distributed in the near future. Please mark the
date on your calendar now and plan to attend this major

DATE: Begins April 21 and runs through May 16
DESCRIPTION: This is a passive open enrollment, which means your
coverages will continue in effect unless you re-enroll. The one
exception is Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). If you wish to
continue your FSA for next year, you must re-enroll.

LOCATION: Tunnels West Portal Parking Lots
DESCRIPTION: Annual training & education event includes a
written examination covering state and federal rules & regulations,
pre-trip vehicle inspection, and equipment operating skills tests in the
categories of front-end loader and mid-range (single-drive axle) snowplow
truck. Tunnels Section 9 does not have tandem snowplow trucks and
does not compete in that category. All-day event.

time will begin at 1:30 p.m. Karla Harding, R4 Transportation
Director, will retire at the end of May with 26 years of State
experience.

1 Charity Golf Tournament
DATE: July 25, 2008
LOCATION: Springhill Golf Course, Telluride & Sixth Ave.,
Aurora
DESCRIPTION: Proceeds will go toward a project to build a Memorial
Fountain at Region 1 honoring those District 1/R1 employees who have
lost their lives in the line of duty. 7:30 a.m. shotgun start;
18-hole; four person scramble. Prizes for first and second
places. Entry fee: $75 per person; $300 per team. $500
hole sponsorship fee. $5 raffle tickets. $5 mulligans.
Entry fee includes golf cart rental, greens fees, and range balls.
