PROJECT UPDATE

BRIDGE DECK REHABILITATION WRAPS UP ON PEORIA STREET,
MOVES TO PERRY STREET

DENVER – Yesterday afternoon, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) reopened Peoria Street between 104th Avenue and 112th Avenue following bridge deck rehabilitation. The rehabilitation consists of rotomilling the existing asphalt mat, removing the deteriorated concrete, replacing the bridge deck with new concrete, paving, and striping.

With work done on Peoria Street, crews will move to Perry Street over 6th Avenue and will conduct the same work. Work is expected to begin in the next couple of days at this location. To complete this work, Perry Street will be completely closed until mid-March, weather permitting. Motorists on northbound Perry Street will be detoured east to Knox Court and those on southbound Perry Street will be detoured west to Sheridan Boulevard.

In all, the project will rehabilitate five bridge decks throughout the Denver metro area:

“The bridge deck rehabilitation process is essential for keeping our bridges in good condition,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard. “Unfortunately, the process requires extensive lane closures at each location, but in the end, the bridge condition and surface will be much improved.

More information will be released as the project progresses and construction begins in a new location. For weekly updates, please visit www.dot.state.co.us/ and look under “Travel Info” and “Scheduled Lane Closures.”

ABCO Contracting Co., Inc. is the contractor of this $964,000 project. The entire project should be complete by the end of May 2008.
