NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
RESURFACING PROJECT UNDERWAY ON I-25 NEAR DOWNTOWN DENVER
DENVER – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun one of several resurfacing projects that will take place this summer. The project will rotomill and pave nearly three miles of mainline I-25 in asphalt between 23rd Avenue and 48th Avenue. The project does not include the I-25 HOV/tolled Express Lanes.
“This segment of I-25 serves up to 255,000 vehicles a day, which results in a lot of wear and tear on the roadway,” said CDOT Project Engineer Chris Paiz. “This project will help keep the Interstate in good condition, resulting in less potholes and a smoother driving surface.”
Throughout the project, motorists can expect single lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with a second lane possibly closing at 10 p.m. Major delays are expected throughout the project and alternate routes are strongly advised.
CDOT would like to remind motorists to pay attention to the construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
Brannan Sand and Gravel, Inc.. is the contractor of this $3.6 million project, which should be complete by early to mid August 2008.
