I-70 MEDIAN WORKS BEGINS NEXT WEEK
Nighttime lane closures in place
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) begins installing new median guardrail along Interstate 70, between Silver Plume and Bakerville, on Monday, July 7. Work also includes embankment improvements, asphalt patching, erosion control, seeding and mulching.
Monday through Thursday night, the left lane will be closed:
EASTBOUND – 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
WESTBOUND – 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Sunday night work begins July 13. The left lane will be closed westbound from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday and eastbound from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph through the project area, and lowered to 45 mph through the active work zone. Only minor delays are anticipated. However, CDOT will monitor traffic and adjust and/or remove lane closures if long backups develop.
Ideal Fencing Corp. of Erie, CO., is the contractor for the $1.3 million project. The project is scheduled for completion in September 2008.
Motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers. Traffic information about this and other CDOT projects is on the cotrip.org website or by calling 511.
