GIRDER INSTALLATION AT I-70/SH 58 TO CLOSE
LANES ON VARIOUS HIGHWAYS
JEFFERSON COUNTY – Starting on Sunday, May 4th, weather permitting, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will have various lane closures on I-70, State Highway (SH) 58 and Youngfield Street for girder installation and other bridge work on the new flyover ramp from eastbound I-70 to westbound SH 58.
The following closures will take place Sunday, May 4th through Friday, May 9th:
I-70 between 32nd Avenue and Ward Road: A single lane of eastbound and westbound I-70 will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, two lanes of westbound I-70 will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday.
Eastbound SH 58 between McIntyre Street and I-70: Eastbound SH 58 will be completely closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Detour route: Motorists on eastbound SH 58 will take McIntyre Street to 44th Avenue and then east on 44th Avenue where access to eastbound I-70 is available.
Southbound Youngfield Street from 44th Avenue to 35th Avenue: Two lanes of southbound Youngfield Street will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
The Clear Creek Trail located near I-70 and SH 58 will reopen on Saturday, May 3rd once paving is complete.
This girder installation and bridge work are part of an interchange improvement project at I-70 and SH 58. Ames Construction, Inc. is the contractor of this $30.8 million project, which will be complete by the end of December 2008. The project is being funded by federal and state as well as Jefferson County funds.
