Denver Area CDOT Employee Honored for Public Relations Work
DENVER, COLORADO –Alan Martinez of Thornton received a Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Achievement Award in the double categories of Service and Customer Service during a meeting of the Colorado Transportation Commission in Denver on May 14.
Martinez, lead maintenance worker (Transportation Maintenance Worker II) for Patrol 15 at Golden, Denver Maintenance Section 8, Region 6 (Denver metropolitan area), was honored for his extensive public relations work on behalf of CDOT over the past two years.
Martinez has worked extensively with metro-area media on subjects such as the Maintenance Decision Support System (MDSS), winter snow and ice removal operations, Slow for the Cone Zone campaigns, and career fairs and career days in which he makes presentations to high school students about CDOT career opportunities.
Mindy Crane, CDOT Public Information Officer for the Denver metro area, nominated Martinez for the award and, along with CDOT Deputy Executive Director Peggy Catlin, presented it to him during the Transportation Commission meeting.
“Whenever the CDOT Public Relations Office needs help, especially in times of unusual weather or extaordinary circumstaces, Alan is always willing to help us out,” Crane told the Commission. “He is knowledgeable, professional, and very skilled at working with the media. Today, we honor Alan for his service to CDOT through assisting our Public Relations Office, and his customer service through providing valuable information to the traveling public.”
