NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
RESURFACING PROJECT BEGINS ON COLORADO
BOULEVARD NEXT WEEK
DENVER – On Sunday, May 18th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin a resurfacing project on Colorado Boulevard (State Highway 2) between Mexico Avenue and Alameda Avenue. The project will rotomill and pave 1.8 miles of Colorado Boulevard in asphalt, make some minor signal and signing modifications and replace some sidewalk and curb and gutter.
“This project will be a challenge as Colorado Boulevard is a very busy stretch of roadway with a lot of business access,” said CDOT Project Engineer Pablo Lopez. “For this reason, we will conduct all of our work in the evening hours and limit our impacts to businesses as much as possible.”
Throughout the project, motorists can expect single lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and double lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Delays are expected and alternate route are advised.
During the first few weeks of construction, crews will be removing and replacing concrete curb ramps, curb and gutter and concrete bus pads in the northbound lanes. Once the concrete work is complete in the northbound lanes, milling and paving operations will begin. While milling and paving is underway on the northbound lanes, concrete work will be done in the southbound lanes.
CDOT would like to remind motorists to “Slow for the Cone Zone” and obey all construction signs and flaggers.
Brannan Sand and Gravel Co. is the contractor of this $3.5 million project, which should be complete by the end of August 2008.
