NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
RESURFACING PROJECT BEGINS ON HAVANA STREET/6TH AVENUE NEXT WEEK

ARAPAHOE COUNTY – Starting Monday, June 2nd, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin a resurfacing project on Havana Street/6th Avenue (State Highway 30) between 1st Avenue and Potomac Street. The project will rotomill and pave Havana Street between 1st Avenue and 6th Avenue (US 6) and 6th Avenue between Havana Street and Potomac Street. A total of two and a half miles will be paved in asphalt.

“This area receives a great deal of traffic during the day and we will do our best to reduce the traffic impacts,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard. “This may require us to conduct some weekend work to complete rotomilling and paving through busy intersections.”

Lane closures will take place during daytime hours with occasional weekend work. Motorists can expect single lane closures Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. When weekend closures are required, work will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

CDOT would like to remind motorists to “Slow for the Cone Zone” and obey all construction signs and flaggers.

Lafarge West Inc. is the contractor of this $1.6 million project, which should be complete by the end of July 2008.
