TRAFFIC ADVISORY
128TH AVENUE OVER I-25 SET TO OPEN NEXT WEEK
ADAMS COUNTY – Around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will reopen 128th Avenue following approximately eight months of construction. The project replaced the existing 128th Avenue bridge over I-25 with one that is approximately 73 feet wide to accommodate two through lanes in each direction as well as a 10-foot sidewalk on each side.
“We know that residents in the area have been impacted by this project for quite some time,” said CDOT Project Engineer Tim Custy. “We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation throughout the project as we worked to improve this growing interchange.”
While the new bridge will be able to accommodate two lanes of traffic in each direction, it will only be striped for one lane in each direction. Once 128th Avenue is widened on the east and west side of I-25 by local jurisdictions, the bridge can then be striped for two through lanes in each direction without additional work taking place on the bridge.
Over the next few weeks, motorists may encounter some shoulder closures on 128th Avenue during daytime hours for landscaping activities. In addition, crews will return to the site in late July or early August to install new lighting on 128th Avenue and under the bridge on I-25. However, there will not be any major road closures after the opening on July 9th.
