TRAFFIC ADVISORY
TRAFFIC REALIGNMENT TO CLOSE A PORTION OF I-270
AND VARIOUS RAMPS THIS WEEK
ADAMS COUNTY – Starting tonight, Tuesday, July 22nd, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will place I-270 and I-76 into its final configuration following nearly a year and half of construction. I-270 and I-76 were temporarily realigned to the north to allow crews to construct the new flyover ramp from eastbound I-270 to eastbound I-76.
To complete the realignment, the following lane and ramp closures will take place tonight through Thursday, July 24th:
Detour routes will be posted for each closure and motorists are reminded to obey all traffic signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
The project is the final phase to improve the I-25/US 36/I-76/I-270 interchange and constructs a 2,200-foot long flyover ramp which will take motorists from eastbound I-270 to eastbound I-76. Currently, the only way motorists can access eastbound I-76 from eastbound I-270 is through southbound I-25.
Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this $14.7 million phase, which will be complete by the end of November 2008. The new flyover bridge is expected to open to traffic in August 2008.
