TRAFFIC ADVISORY
LANE CLOSURES EXPECTED ON I-25 AND STATE HIGHWAY 66
THIS WEEKEND
WELD COUNTY – This weekend, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct construction activities on I-25 and State Highway (SH) 66 as part of a widening project on I-25. The work will require various lane and ramp closures tonight through Sunday night.
The following closures will take place Friday, June 20th through Sunday, June 22nd:
Tonight, June 20th: The on-ramp from SH 66 to northbound I-25 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to allow crews to set barrier. Detour signs will be posted which will take motorists to the Mead exit (#245) to access northbound I-25.
Saturday, June 21st: The left lane of northbound and southbound I-25 near milepost 246 (just north of Mead) will be closed from 8 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. for median work.
Sunday, June 22nd: One lane of southbound I-25 near milepost 246 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for median work.
During work hours, delays are expected and alternate routes such as US 287 or US 85 are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all traffic signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
This weekend’s work is part of a project that reconstructs and widens approximately 3.5 miles of I-25 in concrete from four lanes to six lanes. The project also replaces five bridges including the I-25 bridges over the St. Vrain River, Weld County Road 28 and the SH 66 bridge over I-25. The I-25/SH 66 interchange will also be reconstructed to allow for two through lanes and two turn lanes in each direction of SH 66.
Interstate Highway Construction is the contractor for this $48.6 million project, which is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2009.
