Design Aids

These Design Aids are tools used by CDOT Engineers to facilitate various design plan tasks. Many of the Design Aids should be used in conjunction with Standard Plans, Project Detail drawings, and/or Specifications. See the instructions for each aid to ensure inclusion of proper documents in your plan set when using a Design Aid. View a Design Aid by clicking on the desired version and print by selecting "PRINT" when viewing the document.

Structure Backfill   VIEW
   		 Use in conjunction with M Standard Plan M-206-1 and with Standard Special Provision Revision of Section 206, Structure Excavation and Backfill. Developed by the Culvert Committee and Issued March 27, 1998. Defines the three types of Backfill, recommends their use, and illustrates how to calculate Structure Backfill for culvert designs.
Structure Excavation VIEW Use in conjunction with M Standard Plan M-206-1 and with Standard Special Provision Revision of Section 206, Structure Excavation and Backfill. Developed by the Culvert Committee and Issued March 27, 1998. Illustrates how to calculate Structure Excavation for culvert designs.
