Gaming Area Access Environmental Impact Study

Project Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) through the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) proposes to make improvements to the transportation system that accesses the gaming area of Black Hawk and Central City. These improvements are intended to improve access, safety, and mobility to these gaming areas.

The FHWA is the lead agency with primary responsibility for the Gaming Area Access (GAA) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) being prepared under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). CDOT is the agency with the responsibility of preparing the EIS document. Agencies that have agreed to act as cooperating agencies in the preparation of the EIS because of their jurisdiction and expertise regarding recourses potentially affected by the project are the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) and the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).
