  Project Goals

This EIS will look at whether transportation improvements are needed in the Northwest Corridor and, if so, what options are the most effective and desirable.

The study will examine alternatives related to:

  • Highway system connections
  • Various forms of transportation, including bicycle and mass transit
  • Traffic demand and existing capacity
  • Solutions to problems of deteriorating structures and roadways
  • Safety improvements

Alternatives Considered:

  • Taking no action
  • Construction of a new highway alignment
  • Improving the existing highway network
  • Improving the existing arterial system
  • Transit options
  • Expanding the existing bus system
