The corridor is home to many
valuable environmental resources, including Parks and Open Space, the
Poudre River floodplain and riparian habitat, wetlands, wildlife habitat
for many different species, plus historic resources, to name a few.
The project study team included environmental specialists
who inventoried all the resources in the study area and worked with the
designers to help protect those resources to the maximum extent possible.
The development and consideration of alternatives was
conducted with a context-sensitive approach, in which potential alternatives
were designed in an interactive process which attempted to avoid or minimize
impacts to resources by balancing transportation needs with potential
effects on the environment.
