MOST stands for Motorcycle Operator Safety Training, a state of Colorado program with a mission to provide high-quality, low-cost motorcycle training to residents and active-duty military personnel. The goal of MOST is to prepare motorcyclists of all skill levels to ride safely, have fun, but most importantly, stay alive. MOST is funded from fees that riders pay for motorcycle endorsements on driver's licenses and motorcycle registrations. The program was established by state law, CRS 43-5-502, and is governed by a set of rules that outline minimum requirements for training providers who participate in the MOST program. These rules help ensure that certified MOST trainers use approved motorcycle curriculum, provide proper training facilities, and have qualified instructors. All certified MOST training providers receive funding that helps subsidize class fees and keeps the cost of training more affordable for students. MOST training providers offer a variety of courses, including a Basic Rider Course, which includes both classroom and on-cycle training. There is also an Advanced Rider Course for more experience riders, which includes advanced riding techniques and defensive strategies. The curriculum used by MOST has been developed by Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and is supported by proven research. The MOST program is administered by the Colorado Department of Transportation. If you have specific questions about MOST, contact Paul Peterson, CDOT, 303-757-9069 or paul.peterson@dot.state.co.us .
