Work is underway to widen a two-mile segment of US 285 from two to four lanes between Foxton Road in Conifer and Richmond Hill . The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project also includes a new interchange at Richmond Hill Road , asphalt paving, drainage improvements and new landscaping. An animal crossing also will be constructed under the highway, just north of Richmond Hill Road.

Blasting operations will require longer traffic stops. CDOT will distribute additional information regarding traffic impacts and delays several days before scheduled blasting.

Construction will be suspended for major holidays, including Fridays and Mondays around the Memorial, Independence and Labor Day weekends.

US 285 was widened from two to four lanes between Parmalee Gulch Road and Conifer in five phases, between 1991 and 2003.

Lawrence Construction Company of Littleton, CO. is the contractor for the $8 million project. It is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2008.
