PARTIAL RAMP CLOSURE/PAVING EAST OF TUNNEL NEXT WEEK

SILVERTHORNE – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close one lane on the ramp from State Highway 9 to westbound Interstate 70 in Silverthorne for three nights as part of the Eisenhower Tunnel to Silverthorne paving project.

Beginning on Sunday night, August 10, and continuing overnights through Wednesday morning, August 13, the entrance from northbound OR southbound State Highway 9 in Silverthorne to westbound I-70 will be closed to traffic. Upon completion of one segment, the other ramp entrance/section to westbound I-70 will be closed. During the closure, a signed detour will direct traffic around and back to the open segment of the ramp. All work takes place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Rotomilling and paving operations begin, east from the Eisenhower Tunnel, on Tuesday, August 12. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for approximately two miles, first on eastbound I-70, then on westbound I-70, during the following hours:

Drivers should anticipate some slowing through the area, with longer delays during the morning commute, primarily on eastbound I-70. The speed limit also will be reduced to 45 mph. CDOT reminds motorists that speeding fines are doubled in work zones and, as of July 1, 2008, fine amounts have increased substantially.*

The entire project is scheduled for completion by the end of September. Motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers. Traffic information about this or other CDOT projects is on the cotrip.org website or by calling 511 statewide.
