HIGHWAY 119 PROJECT BEGINS NEXT WEEK
BLACK HAWK – Work begins on Monday, August 11, to improve a segment of State Highway 119 at the north end of Black Hawk. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project includes asphalt paving and minor widening, waterline and sewer improvements, a new pedestrian signal, and new curbs, gutters, sidewalks and curb ramps. Work also involves erosion control, signing, striping, seeding and mulching.
Project hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Flaggers will alternate one lane of traffic through the work zone, which begins just south of Gregory Street and continues north about one-half mile (mile 7.1 – 7.7). Traffic will be stopped for approximately five minutes in each direction. The speed limit through the area will be reduced to 30 mph.
Scott Contracting, Inc. of Henderson, CO., is the contractor for the $469,000 project. It is scheduled for completion by late September 2008.
CDOT wants to remind motorists that information about this and other state highway projects is available on the cotrip.org website or by calling 511. Drivers also are asked to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers.
