TRAFFIC ADVISORY
VARIOUS LANE CLOSURES PLANNED FOR I-70 AND STATE
HIGHWAY 58 NEXT WEEK
JEFFERSON COUNTY – Next week, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will have various lane closures on I-70, State Highway (SH) 58 and Youngfield Street for bridge work on the new flyover ramp from eastbound I-70 to westbound SH 58.
The following closures will take place Sunday, May 11th through Friday, May 16th:
I-70 between 32nd Avenue and Ward Road: A single lane of eastbound and westbound I-70 will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, one lane of westbound I-70 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday. All lanes of eastbound and westbound I-70 will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Detour route: Motorists on westbound I-70 will take SH 58 west to McIntyre Street and then back on eastbound SH 58 in order to take the new ramp to westbound I-70. Motorists on eastbound I-70 will exit at 32nd Avenue and take Youngfield Street to Ward Road where access to eastbound I-70 is available.
Eastbound and westbound SH 58 between McIntyre Street and I-70: Eastbound and westbound SH 58 will be completely closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday. Detour route: Motorists on eastbound SH 58 will take McIntyre Street to 44th Avenue and then east on 44th Avenue where access to eastbound I-70 is available. Motorists needing to access SH 58 will exit I-70 at Ward Road and go south to 44th Avenue. Once on 44th Avenue go east to McIntyre Street and then go south to westbound SH 58.
Southbound Youngfield Street from 44th Avenue to 35th Avenue: Two lanes of southbound Youngfield Street will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
This bridge work is part of an interchange improvement project at I-70 and SH 58. Ames Construction, Inc. is the contractor of this $30.8 million project, which will be complete by the end of December 2008. The project is being funded by federal and state as well as Jefferson County funds.
