NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROJECT UNDERWAY ON I-70
DENVER – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun a preventative maintenance project on I-70 between I-225 and Tower Road. The project will repair and replace approximately 1,850 square yards of concrete slabs in various locations along this four-mile stretch of I-70 including the on and off-ramps at Tower Road.
“By removing damaged concrete, we will be able to extent the life of the roadway by making repairs before it deteriorates to the point where reconstruction is necessary,” said CDOT Project Engineer Tim Custy. “I-70 is highly traveled and carries a great deal of truck traffic so it is vital that we keep it in good condition to ensure safe and reliable travel now and in the future.”
Throughout the project, motorists can expect lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night. Single lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. and double or triple lane closures at 11 p.m. The speed limit will also be reduced from 55 MPH to 45 MPH during work hours. Delays are expected and alternate routes are strongly advised.
CDOT would like to remind motorists to pay attention to the construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
