SH 114 Tomichi Creek Bridge Replacement
GUNNISON COUNTY - The Colorado Department of Transportation began a bridge replacement project today, August 18, on SH 114 over Tomichi Creek (mile marker .10 to .20), just south of the junction with US 50. This project was awarded to Tezak Heavy Equipment Co. of Canon City for $1.3 million.
This project has a completion date of May 30, 2009. It is anticipated that the majority of the project will be completed in 2008 prior to winter, with the remaining work to be completed in the spring of 2009, following a winter suspension.
The work will include removal of the 70+ year timber bridge, construction of a concrete box culvert structure in its place, resurfacing, guardrail upgrades, seeding, and striping.
A detour with 11-foot lanes and 2-foot shoulders will be constructed adjacent to the work site to maintain a two-way flow of traffic. Traffic will also be controlled initially flaggers, construction signs, and variable message signs to ensure safe movement through the work zone.
CDOT and Tezak crews greatly appreciate motorists’ patience and cooperation during this project—please drive “Slow for the Cone Zone!”
