SH 133 ENTRANCE TO CARBONDALE
NIGHTIME BRIDGE CLOSURES
GARFIELD COUNTY – The Roaring Fork River Bridge at the intersection of SH 133 and SH 82 at the entrance to Carbondale will be closed Thursday and Friday nights (Sept 4 & 5) from 8:30 PM to 6 AM to allow for final asphalt paving and pavement markings at this location. CDOT and contractor Sema Construction have scheduled this work to be performed during a low-volume traffic period at night to avoid closing this critical intersection during the daytime peak traffic periods.
Motorists traveling up-valley are advised to use CR 154 and CR 109 (Westbank and Hardwick Bridge Road) to access Carbondale from eastbound SH 82. Motorists traveling down-valley are advised to use CR 100 (Catherine Store Road) to access Carbondale from westbound SH 82. Electronic Variable Message Signs and detour signing will be in place to guide motorists to the detour routes.
Upon completion of this paving work, traffic will be opened up to the new 4 lane configuration on the Roaring Fork River Bridge, and the double left-turn lane from westbound SH 82 to southbound SH 133 will be opened.
The project is nearing completion and major work is expected to wrap up by late September. Remaining work includes reclamation of disturbed areas within the project limits and wetlands restoration near the Roaring Fork River.
