WEEKEND WORK TO IMPACT TRAFFIC EAST OF FT. CARSON
FOUNTAIN — Work at State Highway 16 and the intersections at Bandley Drive and the Interstate 25 ramps, just east of I-25 and Fort Carson, is expected slow traffic through the area next weekend.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 8, drivers should anticipate traffic stops and lane shifts as flaggers and the Colorado State Patrol direct traffic through the work zone, around the clock, until about 5 a.m., Monday morning, August 11. Traffic is being shifted for concrete and asphalt paving operations, earthwork and the placement of temporary barrier and striping.
Considerable congestion is expected and delays could be extensive at times. The Colorado Department of Transportation is recommending that drivers use either the Fountain (exit 128) or the Academy Boulevard (exit 135) interchanges as alternate routes to or from Fountain, Widefield or Security.
When complete, SH 16 traffic will be in a new alignment, on new concrete pavement, with one lane of traffic in each direction, on the north side of SH 16, between U.S. 85 and Bandley Drive.
