Public Comments

Your opinion matters to us. That’s why the North I-25 EIS project team has continued active public involvement to acquire public comments during small group meetings, public outreach events and public meetings in the study area.

Below is a summary of what many Northern Coloradoans have to say about the North I-25 EIS. Submit your own comments or questions on the contact form.

Public meeting comment trends:

  • People are interested in convenient and direct travel to DIA.
  • Many in Ft. Collins and Loveland agree that commuter rail is best along US 287/BNSF line. Greeley residents also agree but want a spur to Greeley.
  • Many people requested that we consider the impact of the raising cost of gas on travel and rail projections.
  • Greeley residents are interested in and concerned about improvements to US 85.
  • Safety (of both people and nature) is important.
  • There is concern about increased noise that will result from widening I-25 highway and implementing rail service.
  • Bus service that connects neighboring communities to each other and to rail service is important. Comments support buses that run frequently to train stations.
  • Many voiced concern about the Front Range Toll Road and its ability to pull traffic off I-25.

Trends/ repeated comments from small groups, Web site, other public outreach:

  • Pro-rail comments indicated that the type of rail is not important as long as rail service is part of solution.
  • Building safe interchanges is important.
  • Many comments supporting rail to DIA were received.
  • Many express concerns about the development occurring along I-25 and the impact it will have on the cost of acquiring ROW.
  • East –west connections are important.
  • Those interested in transit wonder how they will move around Denver once there.
  • Comments are received regularly about how highway improvements will be funded. There is an interest in tolls although comments continue to reflect that tolls should be reasonably priced.
  • Residents in Longmont express that they do not want to have to travel through Boulder to get to Denver.
  • Public comments reflect that bus service has a bad stigma.

Transit Station Working Groups begin soon and public meetings begin January 2006. Contact us for more information.
