March 24, 2008 - Woodmen Road will Close for Bridge Construction - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo Woodmen Road will be closed at Powers Boulevard (State Highway 21) on the night of Tuesday April 1st from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. for bridge construction. Woodmen Road traffic will be detoured as follows:

• Eastbound Woodmen Road - south on Austin Bluffs to Dublin, east to Powers Boulevard, then north to the temporary off-ramp back to Woodmen Road.(Eastbound Woodmen at Duryea Street will be restricted to left and right turns for shopping center and subdivision access only).
• Westbound Woodmen Road - north at the new northbound on-ramp to Powers Boulevard to Research Parkway, west to Austin Bluffs, then south to Woodmen Road.

Construction UPDATE – Woodmen Road will be closed at Powers Boulevard (State Highway 21) on the nights of Sunday March 9th and Monday March 10th. It will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. each night for bridge construction. Woodmen Road traffic will be detoured as follows:

• Eastbound Woodmen Road - south on Austin Bluffs to Dublin, east to Powers Boulevard, then north to the temporary off-ramp back to Woodmen Road.(Eastbound Woodmen at Duryea Street will be restricted to left and right turns for shopping center and subdivision access only).
• Westbound Woodmen Road - north at the new northbound on-ramp to Powers Boulevard to Research Parkway, west to Austin Bluffs, then south to Woodmen Road.

The Colorado State Patrol and flaggers will be onsite to help direct traffic during the closure.

Construction UPDATE - March, 7, 2007 - Woodmen Road will Close for Bridge Construction COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Woodmen Road will be closed at Powers Boulevard (State Highway 21) at night beginning on the evening of Sunday March 2nd and ending on the morning of Friday March 7th. It will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. each night for bridge construction.

Construction UPDATE - Friday, February 22. 2008 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Woodmen Road will be closed at Powers Boulevard (State Highway 21) one night next week to place girders for the new northbound Powers overpass. The closure begins at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28th and continues until 5:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 29th.

Construction UPDATE - Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Starting Monday morning, Dec. 10 and lasting through Friday, Dec. 21, drivers on Woodmen Road will experience intermittent delays as the earthwork haul commences for the construction of the new lanes of northbound Powers Boulevard. Earth-hauling equipment will be flagged across Woodmen Road along the old northbound Powers alignment east of the new overpass. These operations will be ongoing, seven days a week, twenty hours per day, with crossing of Woodmen Road suspended during peak traffic hours and Friday and Saturday nights.

Construction UPDATE - Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Thursday, Dec. 6 starting at 10 a.m. northbound Powers Boulevard will be moved onto the new southbound bridge with this shift being completed by 4:00 p.m. Intermittent delays and/or lane closures will occur during this time. Also, a temporary ramp will be open north of the bridge giving access from northbound Powers Boulevard to eastbound and westbound Woodmen Road. Construction UPDATE - Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Monday, Dec. 3 starting at 9 p.m. southbound Powers Boulevard will be moved onto the new southbound bridge with this shift being completed by 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4. Intermittent delays and/or lane closures will occur during this time. In addition, three more access ramps will be opened west of the intersection: ramp from eastbound Woodmen to southbound Powers, ramp from southbound Powers to eastbound and westbound Woodmen, and ramp from westbound Woodmen to southbound Powers. Construction UPDATE - Wednesday November 21, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Beginning on the evening of Monday Nov. 26 and ending on the morning of Wednesday Nov. 28, Woodmen Road will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. both nights from Duryea Street to Powers Boulevard for continued bridge work. A detour route will be posted for both east and westbound Woodmen Road traffic as follows: eastbound Woodmen Road traffic will be detoured south on Austin Bluffs to Dublin, east to Powers Boulevard, then north to Woodmen Road. Westbound traffic on Woodmen Road will be detoured north on Powers Boulevard to Research Parkway, west to Austin Bluffs, then south to Woodmen Road. Eastbound Woodmen at Duryea Street will be restricted to left and right turns for shopping center and subdivision access only. The Colorado State Patrol and flaggers will be onsite to help direct traffic during the operation.

Construction UPDATE - Tuesday November 6, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Starting on Thursday, November 8 at 9 p.m. and ending Friday November 9 at 5:30 a.m., Powers Blvd. and Woodmen Road will experience intermittent lane closures and shifts while traffic is being set up on the newly constructed westbound Woodmen road. Please keep in mind the reductions in speed: Powers Boulevard has been reduced from 50 to 40 miles per hour (mph) beginning approximately ½ mile north of Woodmen Road and slightly north of Dublin Road south of Woodmen Road. Woodmen Road is also reduced from 45 to 35 mph approximately ½ mile either side of Powers Boulevard. These reductions in speed were established in the best interest of safety for both the traveling public and project workers. They will be in place for the duration of the project (mid­2009) and are needed to accommodate construction activities.

Construction UPDATE - Friday November 2, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Thursday, November 8, Woodmen Road traffic will shift north to the newly constructed westbound road to allow for construction of the eastbound road. At that time, Woodmen Road traffic will be reduced to two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane. Travelers should anticipate traffic slowing in this area. To ease congestion, both eastbound and westbound Woodmen Road travelers will access northbound Powers Boulevard via the new ramp located east of the Powers/Woodmen intersection.

Construction UPDATE - Friday October 26, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On the morning of Sunday October 28, Woodmen Road will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. from Duryea Street to Powers Boulevard for continued bridge work.

Construction UPDATE Thursday October 18, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On the evening of Sunday October 21 and ending the morning of Tuesday October 23, Woodmen Road will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. both nights from Duryea Street to Powers Boulevard for continued bridge work.

Revised Construction UPDATE Friday October 12, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On the evening of Tuesday October 16 and ending the morning of Wednesday October 17, Woodmen Road will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. from Duryea Street to Powers Boulevard for continued bridge work.

Construction UPDATE - Thursday August 16, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Woodmen Road will be closed the night of Monday August 20th from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. from Duryea Street to Powers Boulevard for pouring of concrete on the new overpass.

Thursday, August 16, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Woodmen Blvd. closure scheduled for this evening August 16th from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. has been cancelled due to weather conditions. The public will be notified as soon as an alternate closure date has been chosen.

Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– Beginning the evening of Monday, July 16 and ending the morning of Friday, July 20, Woodmen Road will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. each night from Duryea Street to Powers Boulevard for the placement of bridge girders on the southbound Powers Boulevard structure. A detour route will be posted for both east and westbound Woodmen Road traffic as follows: eastbound Woodmen Road traffic will be detoured north on Austin Bluffs to Research Parkway, east to Powers Boulevard, then south to Woodmen Road. Westbound traffic on Woodmen Road will be detoured north on Powers Boulevard to Research Parkway, west to Austin Bluffs, then south to Woodmen Road. Eastbound Woodmen at Duryea Street will be restricted to left and right turns for shopping center and subdivision access only.

Tuesday, June 19, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Effective Tuesday, June 19, 2007, the entrance to Rustic Lane was closed. To access residences on Rustic Lane, a new entrance has been constructed approximately 600 feet west of Tutt Boulevard. This access point is a right-in and right-out. For travelers east bound on Woodmen Road, proceed east to Tutt Boulevard, turn around there and proceed westbound to the new access point. Rustic and Country Lanes’ street signs have been moved to depict the entrance point.

Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Beginning at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, and occurring for the next two weeks, there will be intermittent delays in traffic traveling both westbound and eastbound on Woodmen Road immediately west of the Powers/Woodmen intersection and northbound and southbound Powers Boulevard north of Woodmen Road. These intermittent delays in traffic are expected to take place during standard work nights being Sunday (beginning at 9:00 p.m.) through Friday morning (finishing at 5:30 a.m.). All traffic lanes will be restored unimpeded by 5:30 a.m. each morning.

Thursday, April 26, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – From approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30 through 5:30 a.m. on Friday, May 4, there will be intermittent delays in traffic traveling both westbound and eastbound on Woodmen Road immediately west of the Powers/Woodmen intersection.

Monday, April 16, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– From approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16 through 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, there will be a temporary shift (to the south) in traffic traveling westbound on Woodmen Road from approximately ½ mile west and east of the Powers Boulevard and Woodmen Road intersection.

Friday, April 6, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Beginning Tuesday, April 10 there will be intermittent lane closures on both Woodmen Road and Powers Boulevard approximately ½ mile in each direction from the Powers /Woodmen Interchange. The intermittent lane closures will occur each day from 9:00 p.m. through 5:30 a.m. through Friday, April 13.

Thursday, April 5, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – From approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9 through 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, there will be a temporary shift (to the south) in traffic traveling eastbound on Woodmen Road from approximately ½ mile both west and east of the Powers Boulevard and Woodmen Road intersection.

Thursday, March 29, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – From approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2 through 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, there will be a temporary shift (to the east) in traffic traveling northbound on Powers Boulevard from approximately ½ mile north of Dublin Boulevard to approximately ½ mile north of Woodmen Road.

Thursday, March 15, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – From approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19 through 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, there will be temporary lane closures in both eastbound and westbound lanes of Woodmen Road from slightly east of Duryea Street to slightly west of Powers Boulevard.

Monday, March 12, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Beginning at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, the traveling public can expect up to 15- to 20-minute delays at the Powers Boulevard and Woodmen Road intersection. Drivers heading both northbound and southbound on Powers Boulevard as well as eastbound and westbound on Woodmen Road can experience delays anytime between 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 to 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14.
